It’s done! Mustang is gone. And in exchange I got a big car with loads of space for the second baby, less mileage, and a nice check. And it’s a unicorn. Why, you ask?
A stick! throws are looong, but I’ll get used to it.
After winter I plan to buy nicer wheels and a black wrap for the roof, and it’ll be a nice family car for the years to come.

I was extremely impressed with the Optima I drove pretty recently for mt Grandma. She liked the Altima better, but wasn’t sure why.

Just because. I really like black roofs, but I only had black cars before, so never really had a chance to do it.

I’m glad you went with a sedan for a second baby. To many families decide that 2 kids require a city bus to haul them around.

I’ve driven both the 2014 optima and the altima, and I’ve gotta say the altima was the worst new car I have ever driven.

When I was in elementary school, my nextdoor neighbor traded in her Previa for an Excursion. She had 2 kids. The most use that Excursion ever got was driving 5 children to school and back (my sisters and I as well).

Yep, same. It didn’t hae a single redeeming feature.

For 3 kids, yes, can’t beat a minivan. Two kids? No way

Didn’t know these were available as a manual. Awesome find!!!

After my brother was born, my parents got a GMC Vandura conversion van to haul us in. We never used it for camping or anything. Usually my dad would take me to school in his Celica GT4.

I had no clue there was an Optima with a stick. I've put probably 20k miles on rental Optimas...I always pick one if they're available; very decent go here-to-there with customer cars. Also, they can traverse super sketchy rock strewn mountain paths in Washington if you go really slow and don't mind horrid crunching and nearly getting stranded a couple times.

According to my calculations, less than 4% are manuals in the used market here! It was only the base model. They don’t offer it anymore.

Yeah, I had no idea. Very cool though. Does anyone make a short throw shifter for it?

We picked up our first minivan before we were even expecting our second. Why you ask? It was cheaper than a comparably optioned SUV with equal if not slightly better gas mileage, we had (and still have) no need for AWD/4WD/4X4, sliding doors made it easier to get baby bucket in and out as well as helping our little one get buckled up and finally for all the gear we were hauling when visiting my parents 6 hrs away. (Pack and Play, the 2 or three bags for the kid oriented stuff plus our few bags and the dog)

Nice! I’ve always liked the Optima! With the stick you got yourself a sweet car!

It was, and 2013 was the last year. Can’t blame them for not making it anymore, nobody bought them.

Fun to have a unique car like this. Always thought these Optimas looked sharp. Enjoy.
